FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: How soon should a bride get her bouquet to you?
A: We prefer receiving the bouquet within 24 hours. The fresher the flowers, the more successful the results. For this reason, we offer a pick-up service (within the local area) for a fee. By advance reservation, we will pick up your bouquet at the close of the reception.
If you deliver the bouquet to us, we recommend keeping it cool. Line an ice chest with ice packs; cover packs with plastic and a towel. Place the bouquet on the towel. DO NOT freeze the flowers, or allow them to become wet or float in water. However, if your bouquet is hand-tied (fresh cut stems not in a bouquet holder), put the bouquet in a vase with 2 inches of water in the bottom. The flowers can drink to remain fresh, keep cool.
Q: Do flower colors remain the same as before they were freeze-dried?
A: Colors may change during the freeze-drying process. Dark colors tend to deepen, or become more intense. Pastels may become lighter than when fresh. Some colors remain the same. I have many samples to illustrate the finished product.
Q: How long do freeze-dried flowers last?
A: Since the freeze-drying of botanicals began in 1989, it is too early to say how long they will last. Flowers protected from humidity, sun, and insects will last longer. Remember they are organic material and will eventually become beautifully subdued.
Q: How long will it take to receive my completed display?
A: Depending on the season, the entire piece takes 8 weeks from start to finish.
Q: Should I talk with my florist about my intentions to preserve my bouquet?
A: Yes, we freeze-dry bouquets designed by many florists. We can offer some suggestions to your florist that will enhance the outcome of your preserved bouquet.
